Co-Creation Frameworks for Human-Centered Climate-Adaptive Buildings
Wednesday 3 September 2025, 11h00 - 12h30, 5ABC
This workshop will introduce the Human-Centric Buildings (HCB) Network which aims to develop new knowledge, tools, and technologies to address the evolving role of humans—occupants, operators, and other stakeholders—in buildings amid the energy transition. Participants will work together to shape frameworks for design education that reflect CISBAT 2025’s core themes, focusing on the essential elements of a human-centric pedagogical approach suited to climate-adaptive building design.

Radical rapid paths to net zero housing via mutually reinforcing actions
Wednesday 3 September 2025, 14h00-15h30, 5ABC
Societal discourse, public policy, and academia remain centered on incremental action certain to miss climate, biodiversity and wellbeing goals. As a community, we can and must act, by exposing inconsistencies, refocusing debate and action, and ensuring our projects mutually reinforce towards such positive scenarios. This interactive workshop aims to empower the academic community to better contribute to urgently needed societal transition narratives, and by making individual contributions mutually reinforcing. The same workshop will be held online on 4 September.

Beyond the Start: Achieving Long-Term Personalized Environmental Control Systems Success
Wednesday 3 September 2025, 16h15-18h00, 5ABC
Personalized Environmental Control Systems (PECS) provide the advantage of tailoring the immediate surroundings of an individual instead of regulating the environment of an entire room. While PECS hold significant potential, they also pose challenges for long-term use. This highly interactive workshop will address critical questions about the long-term use and impacts of PECS, focusing on user acceptability, user adaptability and PECS adoptability.

Cumulative Multidomain Research: Progress & Future
Thursday 4 September 2025, 10h45-12h30, 5ABC
In light of inconsistent methodologies and findings across multidomain research, recent efforts have proposed stricter quality standards and targeted solutions. However, persistent gaps underscore the need for collaborative innovation to strengthen the robustness and cumulative value of future research. This workshop will review recent progress, identify actionable priorities for advancing cumulative multidomain research, and develop a roadmap outlining clear next steps.
